My Story

My journey to sobriety began in 1987. I had a moment of clarity that something was wrong. I remember saying to my boyfriend at the time, “I’ve hit rock bottom.” I don’t recall his response, but soon after, we found ourselves at our first AA meeting. I recall feeling a sense of home—I didn’t feel out of place, and things made sense. I honestly don’t know where those words came from, as I wasn’t familiar with the language of addiction and recovery. Today, I believe it was my soul whispering to me.

After five years of sobriety, attending meetings, and not drinking, I believed I could have a glass of wine to celebrate my first wedding anniversary. After multiple relapses, I came to understand that abstinence alone wasn’t enough. Through the program, I learned about the nature of alcoholism and recognized that my drinking was a form of self-medication for deep-seated wounds. Eventually, drinking no longer numbed what I couldn’t bear to feel.

After multiple attempts to stay sober, it wasn’t until 1997 that I fully surrendered. With three children and a deep desire for change, I committed myself to sobriety on July 1, 1997. Over the years, I immersed myself in meetings, worked through the steps with sponsors, and supported other women on their journeys. I also engaged in other 12-step programs and various healing modalities, realizing that my recovery needed to extend beyond AA.

Despite faithfully working the program for 22 years, I eventually felt a profound sense of disconnect. While AA provided a crucial and strong foundation, I recognized the need for a more personalized path. My journey revealed that sobriety wasn’t just about attending meetings, not drinking, and working the steps—it was about honoring myself, trusting my inner knowing, and following my own unique path.

While I deeply respect the invaluable role of AA, I realized that my recovery needed more than just a solid foundation—it needed depth and diversity. AA laid the essential groundwork, yet to evolve and thrive, I had to explore new paths and embrace additional dimensions of healing and personal growth.

An inspiring moment of clarity came when I heard that sobriety, like alcoholism, is progressive. This insight resonated deeply, and I committed to embracing a continuously evolving journey. My soul’s whispers became my guide, and I learned to listen, trust, and honor its infinite wisdom. Thus, Infinite Sobriety was born—a testament to the boundless potential for personal evolution.

Infinite Sobriety represents my dedication to living authentically, trusting my intuition, and embracing my own path. It stands as a beacon for those seeking a path that honors their uniqueness and the limitless possibilities for personal growth and transformation.
